Landscapes, 2022-
Inspired by John Clare’s reflection that “to lose your land is to lose your language,” Landscapes reimagines the exiled body as terrain—breasts and body parts rendered as shifting, sensuous topographies.
Each watercolour becomes a metaphor for the life force of a body in exile—rootless yet reaching, fragmented yet fertile. In times of personal and collective crisis, these soft, fluid forms offer a tender response to unspeakable loss.
Rather than dramatize desire, the work maps the quiet geography of longing and survival—where ego and eco meet, and the internal world finds expression through the language of the land.
