_Denial_, 2018

(with Julia Wolf, Aaron Hands)

_Denial_ is a multi-sensory performance exploring the fragmented psyche shaped by gendered power structures and systemic oppression. Merging sound, dance, and video, the work evokes a shifting terrain of memory—where resistance and vulnerability, fear and defiance, collide in a disorienting, looped narrative.

Created for the Whitechapel Gallery Presents series and performed on 18th October 2018, the piece conjures an atmosphere thick with contradiction: a place where truths are spoken and silenced simultaneously. The performers move through choreographed tension, echoing patterns of suppression and emotional rupture, as Julia Wolf’s soundscape fractures time and Jessie Hands’ video work blurs perception.

Rather than offering resolution, _Denial_becomes a space of uneasy witnessing—a haunting meditation on power and survival, where the act of remembering is both weapon and wound.
